Visiting with Dogs
Your four-legged companion is very welcome at the National Park Center! However, please understand that dogs are not permitted in the permanent exhibition “Vertical Wilderness,” and the Education Center (for registered groups and school classes) is not suitable for pets.
Areas designated for dogs are marked in the outdoor grounds. Please keep your dog on a short leash at all times and clean up after your dog . Dogs are allowed in the foyer, the temporary exhibitions, and the restaurant.
While you’re visiting the exhibition, you can safely leave your dog in one of our three extra-large dog crates in the parking lot; fresh water is provided, and you can pick up the key at the information desk in exchange for a deposit.

Permanent Exhibition “Vertical Wilderness”
The “Vertical Wilderness” exhibition is located in a space measuring approximately 1,000 m². Here, on a steadily ascending hike, you’ll discover the full spectrum of life in Berchtesgaden National Park: The journey begins at the foot of Lake Königssee and leads through the habitats of water, forest, alpine meadows, and rock all the way up to the peaks of the Berchtesgaden Alps.
Once you reach the rock habitat, you’ll experience the highlight of the exhibition: A 12-minute nature film projected onto an 11 × 15-meter screen inside the mountain display case.
No two visits are alike—different spatial impressions and light and sound effects that change with the seasons make every journey through the exhibition unique.
